So Christmas was a thing that happened. Let's get back to it.
---------------
-we respected as our king and hero!
And now you're trying again. Whelp.
Does it involve more Legendary Pokemon?
Does it have something to do with Cheren?
...Stop talking. Forever.
"You guys are the worst. You talk about saving Pokemon, but you're just Pokemon thieves! Don't think I'll ever forgive you!"
"I can never forgive Team Plasma!"
Let's see... You run either Patrat or Purrloin, so odds are: Yes.
-in a few seconds.
Have I mentioned that these bastards spam Detect? Because they do. And it's mind rendingly annoying.
"I mean, we used Detect and everything! How COULD they catch us off guard?"
Come to think of it... Who the hell steals a Patrat. They're common as dirt. Principle of the matter, perhaps? But why USE Patrat, much less a stolen one who's bound to defy you for a while! You could just walk outside, bump into one of the hundreds running around, and chuck a Pokeball at it. Its' pathetically easy to catch! And you wouldn't have to spend days breaking it's will until it serves you! Same goes for Purrloin!
You know what? So do I. Ryo, mug her.
Already on it.
Says you. I got her watch.
"OK! Let's go back to Virbank and look for someone who looks like they know a lot about ships. If I remember right, there was a place to board boats on the docks."
I thought it was great too! I mean, the ending really put it into perspective! I'm in tears...
You're crying over THAT trash. Seriously?
Don't give up, keep trying, it's fine if you don't cause problems for others, etcetera.
"I don't feel really good about it, but at least they're gone. Oh! There was a lot of ruckus, but you can sail to Castelia City now!"
Castelia City ThemeHe then runs off. Time to explore!
"Go find the three other harlequins for a prize! Here's a bike!"
Clearly this is Nebula's doing.
Yes... It all makes sense. All evil roots back to Battle Network 4.
There's a ton of buildings around here, so I'm just going to show the relevant screens. Oh. And Rest is a move that heals all HP and status by putting your Pokemon to sleep for two turns. Nice on some, but certainly none of ours.
Vending machines are your friend in this game. Remember how useful Lemonade is? Better than a Super Potion at half the price. And these things are scattered everywhere throughout the game.
These serve as Full Heals. For 100 each. You can even sell them to a certain collector for an absurd price. You also get to do this daily. Sweet, delicious money...
Give it to a Pokemon to hold. They receive half the experience from a battle even if they didn't participate. Helps with raising the weaklings.
So you're a guy!?
...So you're a guy!?
...No, but she DID lead to this.
Bug bite eats the opponent's berry and deals out decent damage. It'll be our go to move for a while. Also, he evolved. His attack went up, his defense went WAY up, but he lost a chunk of speed. Not to worry though! His final evolution patches this all up.
Boosts the holder's critical hit rate. I didn't bother.
Oh right. This is the Battle Company. Beat them all to challenge the boss. It's experience, so... Yeah. No real reason not to.
Yeah. The guy dressed up as a janitor? He was the head of the company last game.
-Pokemon and Trainers!
Battle Company BossHe had an Eevee and Herdier. Eevee was a joke and Herdier... Well, easy enough.
-might make you stronger...
By winning. Yeah.
Oh look. A useless item. If the Pokemon holding this is hit by Attract, the enemy gets hit with it too. Pretty useless.
Liberty Garden is where you cought Victini! In the previous game. There's really nothing to do there now.
It heals 100 HP. That's about it.
Once per day service that increases one of your Pokemon's happiness. It's handy.
Oh hey. Dream World stuff. We can't use it, but it's a feature fileld with mini-games, prizes, and Pokemon with unique abilities.
If the Pokemon holding this participates in a battle, the prize money is doubled. Does not stack.
Remember this guy. He's got something we want. Dearly.
-and then took off!
Okay... We're looking for the new one then.
She then runs off, so we follow her.
Oh god. A sewer level.
"That means the only place I still haven't checked is... Kyren! Help me out!"
Castelia Sewer ThemeFor this entire sequence he fights alongside you. He also restores all of your Pokemon after each fight, so it's handy.
Now we could leave and prepare, but... Eh. This section is easy. So! We can bug him a few times while he's tagging along with us. His chats are as follows:
"I'm sorry I got you mixed up in this, But I can't forgive Team Plasma!"
"So this is the sewer... Well, it's not as stinky as I expected."
"Still... Pokemon live everywhere, don't they?"
This leads to an otherwise inaccessible patch of grass hiding several Pokemon. We can't access it until after this scenario.
Increases the power of Psychic moves by 20%. We don't have any, so...
"Team Plasma! You villains!"
"And what's more, you use those stolen Pokemon like they're tools!"
What a compelling argument. Allow me to offer a counter.
"Let's do this, Kyren!"
Plasma Battle ThemeNo Patrat! Alas, this battle was short lived. Water > Ground.
"OK! Let's go further inside! There might be more in there!"
"And there was no one suspicious beyond here!"
"Is that...so?"
"Yes indeedy! I'm concerned about Team Plasma as well. More importantly, shall we leave this place? For some reason, this sewer is bugging me."
"Didn't you and the other Gym Leaders fight Team Plasma two years ago? Kyren, thanks for your help. Here, use this!"
"I'll find those other Team Plasma punks! I... I'll never forgive Pokemon thieves! No way!"
And the moment he runs off...
My thoughts exactly.
"Well. No matter. What are you going to do? You can stay here and train your Pokemon. Or maybe you should come challenge me, the Gym Leader! Be seeing you!"
Yeah. Gym. Sure.
This is a cave. We can find ultimate power in here... With a little help from a special item.
Jackpot. Remember the rustling grass? Same deal in caves, though these have a high chance of just giving you a rubbish item. As such, repels are almost necessary.
Yeah... Let's fast forward a bit.
Aaaaand there goes the game.
And more capturing! Oh. And there's a Miracle Seed here. Same as the Twisted Spoon, but for Grass attacks.
IT'S EEVEE!
That's... Correct. Took you long enough.
Yeah. He's always like that.
This thing right here is fantastic. Let a Pokemon that isn't fully evolved hold this and both their defense and special defense increase by 50%. It's great for Diabeetus.
Gym time. Those Coccoons fling you around the area. Work your way up to Burgh.
Castelia City GymDemonstration of coccoonsThese break open and reveal a trainer. You beat them, then you can take the coccoon. Simple stuff.
"My Bug-type Pokemon have been scurrying with excitement about getting to battle you. I'd say my Bug-type Pokemon are pretty great! C'mon, let me brag a little! Dwebble's round little eyes are cute! It's resilient and reliable! My ace is Leavanny! It's really the best! I think it's so sweet how it makes clothes for other Pokemon out of leaves. Of course, I'm really proud of all of my Pokemon! Well now... Let's get right to it!"
Click the image. Now I could've just slammed Growlithe into the majority of his team, but... Meh. Too dull.
"I guess it's no surprise I lost. Here! Take this Insect Badge! I think it'll suit you!"
"Ooh! The Insect Badge suits you even better than I thought it would! If you have three Badges, Pokemon up to Lv. 40 will obey you, including traded Pokemon. And, uh, you know what, I'll also give you this."
This move SUCKS. It's got the pathetically low base power of 30, is special based, and has the meager bonus of reducing the target's Special Attack by one stage. It's pathetic.
Oh hey. It's this guy again.
But thou must.
-of the same species.
Damn right he does. His stats are fantastic.
-the power of your Pokemon!
-power of Pokemon."
-they share with their Trainers?
"Do you find this acceptable?"
Well... Experience. I have to go through there anyway.
This game's item finder. We'll use it a few times.
Ehhh... A desert. We'll deal with it next time.
---------------------
So hey. Let's look at our current team.
